Give a plant some water and it says “thank you” with elevated leaves. Polish wooden furniture and it responds with a sheen. Wash your car and it just seems to ride better. Add just a pinch of salt to your food and… Oh! How it savors the flavor. Give your pet a brisk rub-it reacts with overzealous friskiness. Just a simple touch and the gratitude is uncannily overwhelming.
I am also reminded of how the universe responds to the expression of God’s love. How the heavens declare His glory. There is a song that says: “the mountains bow down and the seas roar at the sound of His name.” This is nothing more than just a simple touch of God’s love in some form or fashion.
So I am asking you…Is a smile asking too much? A hug? A thank you? A how are you? Just an acknowledgement that reflects a touch. Did Jesus ever not touch? How much more can we who are made in the very essence of God’s image reach out and touch another, regardless how you may differ. Because we are all made in God’s image.
